I am a fully qualified and HCPC registered Art therapist based in Milton Keynes and a full member of the British Association of Art therapists. I have a fully enhanced DBS certificate for both Child and Adult Workforces.
I am available to provide individual Art Therapy sessions with children and young people in their schools and I have a private practice.
I am also employed with Broad Horizons, a psychotherapeutic service for children and adults working primarily with trauma and dissociation.
I have worked as the Art therapist in a primary pupil referral unit for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health issues. Prior to this I worked in a large multi-faith hospice in London providing Art therapy to individuals and groups of patients and families/carers and facilitating several projects between the hospice and local schools.
Karen Clements currently works as an Art Therapist in primary and secondary schools and with adults in private practice.
As part of my clinical training, I worked with adolescents in a CAMHS service within an NHS hospital and in a rehabilitation unit for women with chronic Anorexia Nervosa. Since qualifying I have worked for Young Carers MK doing 1:1 Art Therapy with children and young people in their schools. Prior to my Art Therapy training, I worked for a number of years in education, both at primary and secondary levels which included some teaching of Art and the leading of art-based projects.
I offer a person-centred approach where the therapeutic relationship is central. This is formed within a safe space where individuals can come and be and not feel judged in any way.

“I've had counselling for so many years but nothing has helped me in the way Art Therapy has. Art Therapy helped me bring feelings to the surface I had hidden for many years without realising it. I think the relaxed way of doing art and being able to talk helped me very much to realise I needed to release my pent up anger”
“It's in the depth of uncovering that Art Therapy benefits you... Káren and I have been very deep in lots of things… It's about the art making and using your hands frees something inside. Art Therapy has helped me to lay a lot of things to rest... It has helped me to accept and let go. I am at peace with myself.”
