I have considerable experience working across health and social care, education and the disability sector. I have worked in education for the last twelve years in a variety of settings covering SEN,(special educational needs), special schools (learning disability and ASD) and a pupil referral unit (emotional and behavioural difficulties). Good communication skills have been a baseline requirement for working with such a diverse client group, equally essential as an art psychotherapist.
My clinical experience has been mainly with students with ASD, working with groups and also 1:1. Presently I work within a school with this client group.
HELEN O'LOUGHLIN, MA
Helen O'Lough;in specialises in the education sector, working with autistic children and children with learning disabilities.
During training I worked with CAMHS (Child and adolescent mental health service) and have continued working with children and young people privately. Lastly I initiated and ran an art therapy group with a group of refugee women for a year and a half. I would like to pursue this interest and would welcome work with refugee children and families.
I gained my MA Art Therapy (distinction) from the University of Hertfordshire and am registered as an art therapist with the HCPC and am a member of BAAT.
