I am a fully qualified Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and a full member of BAAT the British Association of Art therapists. As I work with children and vulnerable people I have enhanced DBS clearance and also have public liability insurance.
My experience ranges from work with young primary aged children through to teenagers involved in CAMHS (Children and Adolescents Mental Health Services).
Prior to becoming qualified I worked for 5 years with groups of adults on substance abuse programmes. I also worked for over six years in SMEH educational specialist provision where I implemented a therapeutic art curriculum. Through art the pupils were given the tools to use in order to express themselves and process inner conflicts.
CATHY MCCARTNEY, MA
Cathy McCartney is an art psychotherapist who works with children and adolescents in schools as well as children and adults in private practice.
As an Art Psychotherapist I use a range of approaches and materials. Yet the heart of my work is person-centred where the therapeutic relationship is key. In schools I work closely with school staff, family members and other involved outside agencies to effectively support the needs of the child.
If you would like to talk to me about how art therapy may help you or your organisations, or about the trainings I offer, please contact me. I cover areas in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Please refer to my website for further information on www.artplus.org.uk, or
